I have an Epson XP-400. When I scan a document, it will only

Customer Question

I have an Epson XP-400. When I scan a document, it will only print in red.
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Epson is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: The Model is XP-400. It is about two years old.
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac OSX Sierra
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: I had the problem even before I upgraded . Second problem now is that when I try to scan from my printer TO my computer directly, it says the printer is disconnected. (I can scan from the the computer, but I cannot solve this problem of printing scanned documents). I had that problem sometimes before upgrading.
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: No.

  1. Open the File menu or click and select Print.

  2. Make sure the product is selected as the printer.

  3. Click Properties or Preferences.

    Note:
If you don't see these buttons, click Setup, Printer, orOptions, then clickProperties or Preferences on the next screen.

  4. Click the Main tab, and see if there is Black/Grayscale under Print Options.(You need to try swapping this option)
