My Canon MF216n printer/fax/copier/scanner will not allow

Customer Question

My Canon MF216n printer/fax/copier/scanner will not allow phone calls to go to my answering machine. I have two phone numbers on one line. The fax answers the double ring fax line and works fine. However when a phone call comes in it picks up the line after the second ring and the next five rings go to both the fax and answering machine, then the fax machine picks up the line and emits the fax tone. The answering machine works fine when not connected to the MF216n. It used to work perfectly but recently has begun to mess up. How do I fix it. Love the machine otherwise.John Alanko

Hi, I'm Nathan.
Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with this but I'll do my best to help you.

Hello John,

it sounds like your receive mode may be set incorrectly or was reset somehow.

Go into the settings menu, under fax settings, then receive mode (RX mode)

and be sure it is on the DRPD mode

from there under drpd settings, you'll set the pattern (2 short rings, etc).

Let me know if that helps,
