Brother 8710dw printing light and fuzzy - just got a new

Customer Question

Brother 8710dw printing light and fuzzy - just got a new drum replacement from Brother and problem remains
JA: Can you guesstimate how old your Brother is? And just to clarify, what's the exact model?
Customer: MFC 8710DW, probably close to 4 years old - printed perfectly until I had to replace the drum earlier this year
JA: What kind of computer are you printing from (Mac or PC)? What Operating System (OS) are you running?
Customer: Mac (OS X El Capitan) and PC (Windows 10)
JA: How long has this been an issue? What happened right before this popped up?
Customer: it's been an issue since January this year, right after I replaced the drum unit
JA: Anything else you want the printer expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: That it isn't a faulty drum

Expert:  Electronics Pete replied 10 months ago.

Please clarify - how are you certain that the problem is not due to a faulty drum?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Because I had Brother ship me a new one that just arrived today - same problem as with the previous new drum

Does the problem only occur when printing from a computer?

What happens if you print a test page directly from the machine?
