I have a Photosmart D7260 printer...it's pretty old. It has always worked fine, but now I am getting a ink system failure message.
JA: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?
Customer: HP Photosmart D7260
JA: What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I've replaced all the ink cartridges because the other were pretty old. Other than that, not much.
JA: The printer expert can solve this for you. Anything else you want him to know before I connect you two?

As of first step we will try manually cleaning the cartridges and the contacts.

Please follow the steps below:

1) Turn off the printer.
2) Open the printer.
3) Remove all the ink cartridges from the machine.
4) Use cotton swabs dipped in rubbing alcohol to thoroughly clean the area where the cartridges sit and the contacts on each cartridges .
Note:You have to clean repeatedly until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
5) Then allow the cartridges to dry(important).
6) Then replace back everything.
7) Then turn off your printer for a minute or two and then restart and print a test page.

The error code is Oxc18a0206

This error code indicates an issue related to printhead.

Please inspect the carriage path where the printhead sits.
Inside the printer, look for and remove any obstructions/foreign object like paper clip etc. from the printhead compartment. If necessary, use a flashlight to thoroughly check for any obstructions.
If it doesn't helps then it verifies the printhead has gone bad. Printhead needs to be replaced to get everything back to alright.
