Hi. My name is***** you for your question and the opportunity to assist.

Can you tell me which version of Windows you are using?

Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Do you have Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 10 ?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no! please answer the question. I think I have an older version of windows because the PC is at least six or seven years old
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Please try this: click the start button and open Devices and Printer.

You should see your deskjet listed. Right-click on it and make sure

Set As Default Printer has a checkmark next to it.

If you don't see one, click Set as Default Printer to apply it.

When you print from now on the deskjet should be the selected printer.

What's happening Anthony?

Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

Anthony, would you like me to connect to your computer and fix this?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I opened to 'devises and printers' and see the deskjet listed............nowhere do I see where I can checkmark 'set as default printer .....the only checkmark I see is( I think) on windows XP.....I find no way to click set as default printer on my deskjet.
Very upsetting!!!
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

When you open Devices and Printers, right-click on the printer icon.

A menu will open.

Make sure Set as Default Printer has a checkmark next to it.

Here's an example of what it looks like (see attachment)

Byron: You have not solved my problem...................thought your advise would do so BEFORE you debited my credit card.
So where do we stand now?
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

I can't see what's going on with your computer.

I'm also not a psychic. Were you able to set the deskjet as your default

printer?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I already told you I could not do so
Expert:  Byron replied 1 year ago.

In Devices and Printers, right-click on the printer and Delete it.

Once it's gone, from the Tasks menu select Add a Printer

and let Windows re-install it.
