Hello, I am Jennie and I am your printer expert today.

This printer has a chip that is set to recognize non-HP products. It may be mistaking the color cartridge for a non-HP cartridge.

Try this:

First, install the cartridge. Then, unplug the power cord from the printer, wait 10 seconds and then plug it back in. When the lights start flashing, press and hold the ON/RESUME and PAPER SIZE buttons (or ZOOM button if you don't have PAPER SIZE.

When ONLY the ON/RESUME light is flashing, release all 3 buttons. This should resolve it.

If it does not, try cleaning the contacts for the color cartridge tray and then reinstalling.

If this does not resolve the issue, please reply and I will find other avenues or opt out and let someone else have a go at it.

If this DOES resolve you issue, please remember to give me a rating of at least 3 stars at the top of your screen so that I can receive credit for helping you resolve this issue.

Thank you for using Just Answer.
