I have a Canon Pixma 1P4920 printer and it is cutting off

Customer Question

I have a Canon Pixma 1P4920 printer and it is cutting off the tops of black letters when printed. I am also not getting accurate readings on ink supply levels and test pages only print partially in color instead of fully.

I tried cleaning the strip but that does not seem to have helped.

I am extremely sorry for the late reply, I could not get back to you earlier due to some technical problem on my end. Thanks for trying that, now follow the steps below to remove the printhead from the printer then, clean the gold contacts on the printhead and inside the printer with a Q-Tip dampened in IP alcohol properly and then, reseat the printhead and check the issue.

  1. Open the top cover of the printer to get to the ink cartridges
  2. Wait for the ink cartridges assembly to come to the middle/front
  3. Unplug the printer (now the cartridge assembly wont auto-return while the lever is up)
  4. Lift up the gray lever on the right side of the ink cartridge assembly
  5. Remove all ink cartridges
  6. Lift the grey lever and then remove the black plastic printhead up and out
