Customer Question

All of a sudden our Epson WF-2630 cannot send a fax. We receive communication errors. It appears to connect, we can hear the fax ring on the receiver's end, but we are unable to go any further.

Hello, I’m Nathan, and I’ll be assisting you today. My livelihood depends on your positive feedback, so your satisfaction is my highest priority.

Sorry to hear you’re having trouble.

Can you tell me a bit more about the problem please:

1) Is this a dedicated fax line, or a shared voice/fax line?
2) Is this a landline from the local phone/cable company, or a VOIP service (vonage/magicjack/etc)
3) Do you have dsl service on the same line?
4) Are you able to RECEIVE?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
1.) dedicated line
2.) landline
3.) no dsl on that line
4.) yes, we can receive

Is the landline a cable based one?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No, it does go thru our phone switch though.

Okay thanks for confirming,

Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

this is usually caused by a line noise/quality issue

go into the fax settings, and disable the ECM (error correction) mode, which should allow you to send again

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
How do I do that? I can't find it!
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

Menu/settings, fax settings, ecm, off

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
already off
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

It would not be off by default, so you have to make sure you specifically highlight OFF and then press ok/enter.

next, in the same area, set fax speed to slow

That was it! the combination of those two things................AAAAhhhhh, don't you just love technology from the 80's???
Expert:  Nathan replied 1 year ago.

Great! Glad that did the trick for you. Maybe it is time to start scanning and emailing :)

If you have any other questions, just let me know. Otherwise, please do remember to rate my service prior to logging off, hopefully I have earned an “excellent”. I also invite you to contact me directly with any future support needs at
