Hello,

I am the person that will be helping you today.

May I ask how the printer is connected to your system? (usb, wifi, network, etc)

I look forward to your response.

Thank you,
Jason

wifi
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

Thank you for the update. When I remote in, I will walk you through the process of scanning a photo to your e-mail.

May I start a remote screen sharing session with you so that I can better help you resolve this problem?

When the remote begins, a chat window will appear that we can use to communicate with each other.

Thank you. After you click the "Accept this offer" button for the remote tech support, the remote link will be posted on this page. I will go ahead and start getting that ready for you.

i can't recieve further help unless i accept the remote service?
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

That is not correct. We can do this without the remote session, if you wish. I was just offering that as an option to make this go a little quicker for you. How do you wish to continue?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
without the remote service please
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

Okay, thank you.

As of right now, are you able to scan photos from the scanner and save them on the computer?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no, the printer will say, check connection.
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

It sounds like you are trying to scan from the scanner itself.

My questions:
1) If you are at the computer and scan from the computer, are you able to complete the Scan?

2) Which version of Windows or Mac OS are you using?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'm using mfc-j430w. I start the process by putting my pic in the printer section of the printer. Then i push the button that says scan to e-mail. at this point, the printer will say, check connection. make sense?
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

It makes sense. This problem can have several different culprits. Please, try scanning from the computer.

Which version of Windows or Mac OS are you using?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
how do you scan from the computer? I'm using windows 8
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

Thank you for the update.

Please, do the following to scan from the computer:

- Click the Start button

- Type: scan

- In the list of items, click the Scan item.

- In the next window is where you can choose to scan a document.

After you make the scan and save the file, you can then attach the picture file to an email and be all set.

Were you able to get that working?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
all I have is an original photograph. I have nothing saved in my documents.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I was trying to scan it to my email so i would have a copy
Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

That is correct. First, you have to follow the instructions that I typed above. After you do that, it will scan and save the file on the computer.

After you save it on the computer, you can then attach it to your email.

That is correct.

Expert:  Jason Jones replied 1 year ago.

May I ask if that worked or not? I look forward to your response. I hope to hear that all is well.
