Customer Question

I have a printer HL-2040. Paper jammed in the rear of the machine. I removed the paper from the back of the machine. Now the red light stays on when I turn the machine on. How do I correct this and get the green light back on. ***********

Hi, thank you for contacting My name is Russell. I will do my best to provide the right answer to your question.
Try a hard reset:
- while it is On, unplug the printer from the power, by pulling the power cord, sharply and suddenly.
- leave it that way for 1 hour or more.
- plug it in again to the power after that interval.
- turn it On if needed, and see if that clears the error.
If that does not get it working, open the printer again, and make sure there are no other paper scraps in the workings or the paper path.
Which red light is On? or is it flashing ?
How old is the printer? measured from date of purchase.
