teacher on video that keeps...

I am trying to solve a precalculus problem and I have a teacher on video that keeps doing it but in some of the problems a 2 just disappears! My question is what are the doing with the 2 in these problems and how can the two just disappear?

problem 1) two tangent phi divided by two minus secant squared phi equals one

problem 2) sine theta times three sine theta plus four divided by square root of two minus cosine theta equals square root of two plus cosine theta
