Customer Question
Engine light stays on...

Engine light stays on after I lost my gas cap. I have since replaced the cap, but the light still stays on

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the gas cap for cracks? Have you checked the fuse?

It is a new gas cap. Didn't know about the fuse

Mechanic's Assistant: What is the model/year of your Porsche?

Boxter S 2004

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your vehicle yourself? What have you tried so far?

I have only purchased a new gas cap. It has been on now for sometime

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I have plugged one of the Fixd units in and it says the gas cap.

Hello, and thank you for your question. I am Brandon.

You will need to erase the code. Can you get an OBD2 scanner and erase the code.

Did you get an aftermarket gas cap or factory Porsche cap?

Purchased a new cap from Advanced Auto. I believe it is factory. Don't have an OBD2 scanner

You will need a reader like this to erase the code.

The Advanced auto cap is an aftermarket cap. Reset the code first with the reader. If the light comes back ON then replaced the cap with the OEM one.

Please rate me positive, thank you!
