I just purchased a 2005 Porsche Cayenne with 78k miles. I want to get the 80k service and am considering go through an independent mechanic. I'm torn on whether to go through Porsche (much more expensive) or use independent (uses aftermarket non OEM parts). Any suggestions?

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Cayenne yourself? What have you tried so far?

No problems. Just thinking about which way to go on the 80k service.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No that's it. Thank you!

Not sure about an a Porsche specialist - but certified mechanic.

90 percent of the 80 k service is visual checks ...the only parts or service in the 80 k is spark plugs, air filter, cabin air filter and oil change...so any good mechanic should be able to handle

Not sure. I went to the "yourmechanic" website and it mentioned OEM quality.

i would only use spark plugs from porsche they are what works best IMo

Ok. Thanks. Can I just have Porsche replace the plugs or should I buy them myself to give to the mechanic?

the labor is 1.6 hours pretty basic job if your mechanic is confident i would say go for it

You've been very helpful. I will. One last question....do you know about how much the plugs cost?
