My check engine light came on after overfilling the gas

Customer Question

My check engine light came on after overfilling the gas tank. Is there a way to reset it?
JA: Does the light stay on, or does it blink?
Customer: stays on
JA: What is the model/year of your Porsche?
Customer: 2001 Boxster
JA: Are you fixing your Boxster yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: removed the cap and restarted several time. Yes I'll probably fix myself.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Just how to reset. I have radio code so no problem there.

Disconnecting battery for a couple minutes would reset code but I don't recommend it because settings can be lost. The best option is to have codes reset with a scan tool which can be done at your local parts store for free. The code should also go away on its own within a few days of driving assuming there are no problems. Let me know if you have more questions, thanks.
