My 2005 Cayenne with 85,000 miles just had the "oil pressure

Customer Question

My 2005 Cayenne with 85,000 miles just had the "oil pressure low" flash on and while driving home it made an intermittent high humming sound. I just had an oil change, new filter and with synthetic oil and a 1100 cleaner.
JA: When was your last oil change?
Customer: 10/11/16
JA: Are you fixing your Cayenne yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: NO I had it serviced at a reputable BMW motor cars shop.
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: I have done nothing I was going to take it back to them but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue

Hi, I'm Ron and I will be helping you today.
Stand by for a moment while I prepare your answer.

Expert:  rpmdiag replied 10 months ago.

A couple things can cause this, one would be non compatible oil or filter, but seeing that it was serviced at a reputable place, we made want to discount that idea unless wrong oil or filter was accidentally installed.

The other would be if the oil pressure is really okay but the gauge is bad.

Lastly, the oil pressure should be tested with a gauge to confirm its' pressure.

Thanks, Ron

I would also hesitate from driving it until you know what is truly wrong.
