My pool heater is...

My pool heater is leaking water and the level of the spa is down from normal when I set it to the spa setting and turn on the pump.

Contractor's Assistant: Who manufactured the spa?

Don't know but the heater is a Aquacal heat pump

Contractor's Assistant: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

Want to know if I should keep the heater out of use. When I switch everything back to the pool set up it doesn't leak as much.

A​ny leak is bad for pools and spas, but especially bad for heaters. If you can bypass the heater and not use it until repairs have been made, that would be best, ***** ***** the pump is running it will leak water since it is under pressure. Once the pump is turned off the water is still under pressure (just at a slower leak rate) until the pressure is released or the pump is started up again. The other problem this will cause is you will lose your prime in the pump and not suck water, just air. This will burn out your pump and create problems with your filter and eventually cause water problems in the pool and spa.
