My pump seems to be running ok but the water is,nt moving.

My pump seems to be running ok but the water is,nt moving. I called thr installer who is far away and they said to shut all the vales( there's three of them) put the selector to backwash.Making sure the pump was full of water .run the pump he didn't, say for how long.then with the pump off turn the selector to rinse.again run the pump.then off again turn handle to filter opening the two valves the third one being the drain remained closed.Nothing happened the water jets were not working, any ideas?Thanks Steve

The valve on suction side of the pump must be open to get flow. Open slowly while running so you don't lose prime.
