I have a 2012 Hotspot SX that keeps blowing the left fuse on

Customer Question

I have a 2012 Hotspot SX that keeps blowing the left fuse on the control board. Pump doesn't come on when the power is turned on. New tub to me and I had to replace the jetpump assembly. As originally purchased, the motor/pump shaft was seized and the seal was leaking badly. Is the low speed pump supposed to come on as soon as power is turned on? Any thoughts are appreciated.

have you ohmed the pump motor to ground yet?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No. How do I do that?
Expert:  Billy replied 1 year ago.

a volt meter set to meter lead on motor wire and other meter lead to ground.

I will try that after work today. I'm not an electrician so I may ask some pretty basic questions. When I do as you suggested should the power be on or off. Am I checking for continuity?

power is off. I like the setting that makes a tone when the meter leads touch together.

That way, if you touch a motor wire with one lead...ground with the makes a tone indicating a short.

Just checked it. No shorts. Checked with power off and with fuses and without.

can you spin the pump?

can you take a volt reading of what power value goes to pump?

Ok, finally quit raining here and was able to try this. Shafts turns freely on motor and I can straight wire the motor and get it to run on both high and low speed. When hooked back up to the board it looks like I'm getting approx. 1.5 volts to motor.
