I have a Rheem Pool Heater, model RHM-15-0165 010165 P-M407A-EN-X - installed about three years ago. Over the last twelve months, the heater will stop running after about an hour or so of operation, displaying an error code "31" and message related to a "fan lockout". If I turn the heater off at the front panel and back on again - it restarts and works fine. This happens about 50% of the time the heater is run and regardless if I'm heating the pool or spa.

If you have a meter record the amp draw of the fan as it likely raises in amps and eventually shuts down on thermal overload
