So you should have a fuse in the underhood fuse box marked Stop lamp. You need a multimeter or a test light to see if you are getting 12 volts to that fuse with the key in the on position and the brake pressed.

Expert:  Jared D replied 9 months ago.

It might be labeled fuse #27 rather than "stop lamp". I can't remember if pontiac labels them with names or numbers in 2009.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
it is # 27 and it checks out goo, I am not near the car right now so I cant check to power to the fuse. Why is the top light on the trunk hatch working and not the others?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
I figure the prob cant be the sending unit on the brake pedal or the top one wouldn't work ?
Expert:  Jared D replied 9 months ago.

They both work on the same switch, but because the top light uses LED bulbs it runs straight from the relay and bypasses the fuse.

Expert:  Jared D replied 9 months ago.

From the fuse each light uses a separate positive and wire so if both the left and right are not working then the problem has to be in the fuse or in the printed circuit board from the fuse to the connector under the fuse box.

Customer: replied 9 months ago.
ok, let me get back to the vehicle and see if I can locate the circuit board. So there if no relay envolved? Will there be additional costs if I contact you again this afternoon ?
Customer: replied 9 months ago.
hello ?
Expert:  Jared D replied 9 months ago.

Sorry, we had a fire drill and had to clear the building.

The relay is part of the circuit board. So if you are getting power to the high brake light then the relay is good.

I will be here this evening to check and see if you need additional info.
