Well first the battery light comes on and then p1374 3x reference circuit but i cant figure where to look for the problem and how to resolve it
JA: Have you tested the battery? Have you tried testing the alternator?
Customer: Well i tested the altenator but havent tested battery
JA: What is the make/model/year of your car?
Customer: 97 pontiac grand am
JA: Are you fixing your Grand Am yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes i am
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: Well i fixed two red wires by the starter and a connector by the altenator

Have you followed the wires all the way from the crankshaft position sensor as far as you could trace them? It is common that below the alternator the wiring insulation for the ckp will deteriorate and short intermittently.

The battery i know was good i swapped it before i fixed those wires for a different one that held its charge for a couple months without charging it they both were draining slowly

No i didnt do that. Do i have to take the alternator off?

No, you shouldn't have to remove the alternator, but you may need to remove some of the conduit. To be clear, it is the sensor located on the side of the engine block, near the oil pan; it is not the sensor behind the crankshaft pulley
