Hi there my name is ***** ***** can I be of assistance?

Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

From the story you told, it sounds like you may have taken on water into the cylinders. This condition is known has hydro lock.

Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

Have you done anything yet under the hood?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
There was water in the air cleaner chamber, but no moisture on plugs. "Security" light is on, but reboot procedure did not work.
Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

Did you try to start the vehicle with the plugs out?

Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

Refering to the reboot procedure, how was this done?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
The engine will not turn over-starter does not engage.
Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

I can tell you how to bypass the starter relay if you like so you can verify the starter circuit is intact?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
OK
Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

First you will need a small jumper about 2-3 inches long. Like a small wire.

Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

Is this a 2.4L?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
OK again

Automatic
Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

Ok, thanks. Have you tried shifting through the gears and then trying to start the car?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
No
Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

Are you able to try that now?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I won't be able to try that until tomorrow. I just hope the engine is not FUBAR!!
Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

Don't think it is. If that doesn't work, locate the starter relay. Take it out and jump the pins 87 to 30 on the car. The starter should crank

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I'm going to the car to try your tips. Do we still have an open conversation if this works or doesn't?
Customer: replied 11 months ago.
I tried shifting their the gears. Same thing-just clicked incentive-not like when a solenoid is bad, but a single click. There is no starter relay on this car-space 11 says not used. Neither of the fuse panels inside the car either.
Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

If you have an assistant, you can try banging on the starter while trying to start the car. Don't hit it real hard. You are correct, there is not a relay.

Expert:  David Gieswein replied 11 months ago.

More than likely you have a bad starter. Your starter may have been shorted out internally when you went threw the water
