When the Air Bag light comes on, this shuts the air bags system off and they will NOT deploy in the event of an accident while the light is on. As for the reason the light is on- I do not see a direct correlation between the Thermostat being replaced and the air bags system. They do not interact at all in any way. So, at this point, the Diagnostic Trouble Codes will need to be scanned from the on-board computer. These codes will point to the part or sensor in the system that has the problem. From there, we can more accurately and efficiently determine the root of the problem and then make the correct repair. SOME local parts stores, like AutoZone, will have the correct scan-tool needed to retrieve the codes, and will do so for Free (except in California) right in their parking lot. If you cannot find a location that has the correct scan-tool, then a shop will be needed.
