Pontiac Sunfire: My stereo in my 98 Sunfire has power and seems

Customer Question

My stereo in my 98 Sunfire has power and seems to function but I get no sound out to any of the speakers. I've replaced the deck and the wiring harness but this didn't make any difference. Any ideas?

Welcome, I'm Chris (aka Moose). I normally log in after 3 pm central. Please make sure to let me know exactly what is needed from me so I can provide EXCELLENT 5 STAR service. No sounds from a radio where the screen is working and appears to be working fine means there is a wire issue to the speakers or the speakers are faulty. Have you tried a known good speaker. Below is a wire harness to double check your work. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------On your screen at the top you should see a rating 1-5 stars and a green submit button. Please make sure to select one and press submit. I am not compensated by the website unless a customer rates. Rating only pays me from the deposit you have already made, it does not charge you more, nor close the post. Also all follow ups are free and welcome. Thanks Chris

Turns out the issue was due to one of the speakers in the vehicle shorting out on something along its run. It shows a voltage even when disconnected on both ends. Upon disconnecting it from the wiring harness I am able to get sound from the speakers, when I have time I will have to trace the run back and try to identify where this is happening.
