Greetings...... “Hi, I’m Don (aka MOLurch) and I look forward to helping you!”
Typically it can be caused from the Brand of Unit, but most "static" comes thru the Antenna or the Vehicle Wiring.
There can be bad "Noise Suppressors" internal to the Unit.
Clicking type noise can be Bad Spark Plugs, Bad Spark Plug wires
Static Sound (frying bacon, etc) can be Antenna, Antenna wire, Reception not holding station
Whine Sound can be Alternator or Alternator Diode
There are External Noise Supprssors that can be installed at the Unit
There are Antenna "Ground Loop Isolator Leads" that can be installed at the Unit Antenna
You need to remove Unit, Unplug Antenna & see if the noise goes away
IF so, use a Antenna "Ground Loop Isolator Lead"
IF not, then try a External Noise Suppressor
You can search E-Bay or Amazon or the Internet for either, but do not be suprised if the noise does not go completely away.
