My 2002 boneville has been having issues starting. it starts

My 2002 boneville has been having issues starting. it starts rough and dies after a couple seconds. but starts rught up the second time.
doesn't do it all the time. Doesn't matter if engine is cold or hot.

Is the check engine light on with the engine running?

Try these things:

  • Disconnect vacuum hose at fuel pressure regulator and check for fuel coming out of the vacuum fitting on the regulator. If fuel is present, replace the regulator.
  • Unplug the mass airflow sensor and leave unplugged for the next several attempts at starting the engine. If the engine starts easily and runs well then the mass airflow sensor is faulty and will need to be replaced.
