Customer Question

i have a 2006 g6 that i put a used a/c pump on because the original clutch fell off, now when i put freon in it all blows out, i have tried 1.1 lbs, 1.0 lbs, 10 oz's, 8 oz's and even 6 oz's, you can tell the pump is running under pressure, at the lower rate of freon it don't blow out when driving, just at a idle and the fan is running

where does the Freon blow out of ?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the relief valve on the pump....seems like a blockage somewhere but can't see any place that there could be a blockage except dryer, thats all thats visable except lines and pump, unless its in the orfice ?

did the old compressor do this ?any idea on the low and high side pressures with the compressor running ?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the old compressor worked in the fall, in spring the clutch had fallen off, so it worked last summer, i didnt look to see how high the gage was reading, but it starts blowing out with the needle have way up, then i fill it up and then it goes up to about three quarters the blows out, then i fill it again and it would go up almost to the pin and blow out, then i fill it again and it hit the pin and blew out

make sure you have no blockages in the condenser or evap core if that checks out replace the expansion valve if it still does this the pressure relieve on this compressor is no good

how are you making out ?

so i took the lines off of the pump and off at the firewall, I blow air through both the lines, both ways and it was all free and clear, when i blew air into the two lines into the firewall i could only get air through the smaller line which is the pressure line im guessing and the correct way of the flow of freon?, but i could not get air to blow through the larger line, im guessing that is the return line, so there maybe a check valve so it cant go backwards, also the screen on the small line at the firewall was clean with no debree in it, i put it all back together and put in about 8ozs, a little over half the recommended amount of freon and took it for a drive, it would cool as i was driving not idling, when i stopped for about 90 seconds it all blew out at the pump relief valve again, it made no different blowing out lines, seems like a parcial clog somewhere and im wondering if it could be freezing at the orfice?

change the expansion valve and see what it does
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok i will do that ....Thanks
Expert:  Gary replied 1 year ago.
if it still does this the relief on the compressor has to be the problem
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok thanks... i will try that if expansion valve don't fix it....
