Pontiac Boonneville: 1999 Bonneville does start but turns over

Customer Question

1999 Bonneville does start but turns over several times before it fires. I changed my spark plugs after 85,000 miles. The plugs were very white looking. Is it running lean?

Hello and thanks for using Just Answer, exteneded crank can be caused by several culprits. A quick test trying turning the key to the run position the back to off several times before actually cranking. If car fires right up you have an issue with bleed down. Fuel pumps have check valves to keep fuel from bleeding away from engine. When these valves fail we can get an exteneded crank because it takes the pump time to get fuel from tank up to the engine. You could also look around fuel rail for test port. Ports is similar to a tire valve stem. Before starting depress the center of port. You should get a good squirt of fuel. If you don't thats your problem.(FUEL IS DANGEROUS BE CAREFUL). Good luck hope this helps, if it does PLEASE hit ACCEPT
