2001 pontiac aztek: i need to recharge the air conditioning system

This answer was rated:

I have a 2001 pontiac aztec and i need to recharge the air conditioning system.
so you will charge it at home with a kit?usually when an A/C is empty or low it is due to a leak.i would hate for you to fill it up and have it leak back out

yes what kit do need?
they sell a kit at any Napa or Pep Boys that should include 3 small cans of R134 and it will come with a fill hose with a little guage on it.they call it a recharge kit.follow the directions on the kit and it will fill it back up

if i do have a leak how will i be able to tell? ibuoght the cor new and never had to have the a/c worked on.
a shop will have to add DYE to the A/C system and then with a black light look for where the dye is leaking out with a black light.the dye that is put in is a florescent dye that a black light will pick up.BUT those recharge kits usually have stop leak added to the R134 try to fill it yourself get it filled.then if it stops working again then it will have to go to a shop for them to find it with the dye
