Customer Question
I have a 2000 montana...
I have a 2000 montana. The power window controls on the drivers door do not work. It is not the switches or the fuse. What else could it be.
Thanks John

Hello and thank you for using JustAnswer my name isXXXXX the window moving at all? Maybe only up or only down or is it stuck? If it wont move than its the the window motor, and if it wont move and you hear and crunch sound in the door it the window regulator. thank you any other questions please thats why Im here.

There is no noise , the passenger side switch works so it not the motor or regulator. Any other thougths on what it is and how to repair it.
Pontiac Mechanic: Brian Maxwell, Pontiac Technician replied 8 years ago
Hello ok each door has a separate motor and regulator the regulator is attached to the window it self and motor powers regulator up and down. It makes sense for the other windows to work if the Driver window motor is burned up. What you need to do to change the window motor
1.take off the plastic door panel.
2.remove thin sheet of plastic
2.a. At this point if your window is stuck down try to tap on the window motor with a hammer, sometimes it will go up and you good until you can pick one up from the parts store
3.un bolt window regulator
4. Remove window motor
5. Revers to re install

Hello I guess I'm not making my self clear. On the drivers side there are 2 switches, 1 for the drivers window and the other for the passanger window. Neigther switch will do any thing. I changed the switches and fuse. Still nothing, however the switch on the passanger side works that window. I'm looking to find a solution to the problem on the drivers side with both switches. Thanks
