2004 grand am: vibration..whole car, roaring sound..trany fluid..smell…

ok, here i go again...
ok, here i go again. 2004 grand am, rid smooth, shift smooth then all of a sudden vibration thru the whole car, roaring sound like a 747. hit the breaks seems to stop for a little while, checked trany fluid, fukk, clean, no burn smell. someone told em tourqe converter. hard to believe since its goes into gear and shifts so smooth. also seems like miss when driving any speed. think its a lock up. isnt there some kind of lock up sensor? if so where is it and is it safe to disconnect it just for trial to see if that the probelm?

Hello izzzy, does the vibration happen at a certain speed? Will it go away as soon as you take your fott off of the gas pedal?

Hello Fix It Man....it was only happening at interstate speed, but it did happen one time at about 45. it starts with a vibration and roaring noise that gets louder it may ease up a little if i take my foot off the gas, but it seems to stop if i hit the break. but as i excelerate it startes again. i have to come to a complete stop for it stop. it will do this after atleast 8 miles of driving. i cant duplicate it at will so no one can seem to tell me what is wrong. i have checked the trany fluid while the car was hot and running, in park. there is some fluid that drips out. it goes into reverse, and drive smooth, and goes thru all the gears smooth. anytime i'm driving there is this kind of jerking, like a binding, the best was to describe it would be like a miss. but only when the car is rolling, not when ideling. someone told me front hub bearings so i changed them with ac delcos. seem to be ok for a couple days but it started again.

Okay. If the bearings are fine then the problem is either in the transmission or in the catalytic converter. If the converter is getting clogged then this will happen. If the converter is fine then it may be one of the axle side bearings in the transmission.
