VerifiedHello! Turn the power off to the water heater, and expose the wetted area and place a small portable electric heater with a fan in it. 24 inches away, blowing into that area for a few hours.
.
Then inspect for any signs of moisture inside any of the parts,,,, if there are none.... leave the heater in place for another 8 hours.... have a licensed electrician present to do ground fault tests and turn the power back on for you.
.
If there are any signs of water or dampness leave the power off and the heater running for at least another 8 hours.... repeat as needed.
.
Let me know how all that goes please, we can go from there without any time limits.
There are some components that are completely ruined by water... if it fails we will have to hunt those down or call in local technicians if none of this is in your range of skill sets.

Meantime I will pull the manual for you.
