I am repairing an American Standard Faucet or at least I

Customer Question

I am repairing an American Standard Faucet or at least I believe it is. The handles turn a quarter of the way to open and close. I went to Lowes to get a replacement stem and it said it was for both hot and cold. When I placed it in the cold side,it was set for the hot side. What I mean was when I turned the handle to open the water it actually shut off the water and vice versa. Since I believe this a universal valve for both Hot and Cold I would think there is an adjustment I need to make.If you can help me out, I would appreciate it.The valve I bought from Lowes was a Danco 4Z-24 H/C compares to American Standard 994053-007AThanks,
