I have installed five tankless water heaters previously, but

Customer Question

I have installed five tankless water heaters previously, but all were indoor mounted, vented horizontally through an exterior wall. Now I need to vent through the ceiling, through the roof. This will require about 80 inches of vent pipe. Can I connect two each, 39" vent pipe sections to make one long, extended vent pipe to go through the roof? And what cap should I put on the vertical stack?
JA: Have you talked to a roofing professional yet?
Customer: I was told to talk to a tankless expert.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes, I've done this five times previously.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I will be installing a Rinnai, 18k BTUh tankless.

I'm actually I'm assuming your using a Rinnai by the mention of the 39" length of vent. Is that correct?
