Customer Question

The alarm on my model 507 backup system won't go off. We havent had rain for over a week and the sump tank isn't even 1/4 full of water. How do I get the alarm to go off?
JA: How long has this been going on? And how severe is the problem?
Customer: I was gone overnight and when I got home this afternoon it was going off.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: If I can. At least to get the alarm off and then I can call someone tomorrow to fix what needs to be fixed.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Not that I can see

It sounds to me like one of two things

  1. The alarm float is stuck in the up position
  2. There is an electrical short

If there is no threat of rain becoming an issue I'd simply disconnect the power. Either by unplugging or by turning off the circuit breaker
