Hi. We have a Rheem 98 gallon water heater natural gas operated.

Not heating water. Local plumber says vapor sensor needs to be replaced. Unit is less than year old and sensor was replaced in June.
Can sensor be reset?

Flammable vapor sensors (the sensor itself) can't be reset. I assume your plumber tested the device to be sure it has failed. If so then chances are the environment the heater is in is causing the sensors to fail prematurely. Unfortunately these sensors are a barely useful annoyance (in most cases) that have been mandated by recent legislation.
