Rheem model # ***** water heater stopped working. Gas

Customer Question

Rheem model # *****
My water heater stopped working. Gas company said the thermocouple and ignited don't work. Plumber replaced these and now the pilot comes on but it doesn't stay on very long. Is there another part that should have been replaced?

If the pilot stays lit when the button on the gas valve is released then the TRD (thermal release device) might be tripped. The main burner has to be removed to check to see if the device is intact or tripped.
