Customer Question

A new Koehler toilet with the piston aqua was installed about 6 weeks ago. And now it continuously runs. The water is not going over the top of the cylinder. However the shutoff does not seem to work.

Is water running into the bowl?

OK, then the piston is not sealing properly. There is a rubber seal disk at the base of the piston that you need to check. You have to remove the piston to do this. Turn off the water to the toilet then turn the disk/cap at the center top of the piston counter clockwise about 1/4 turn. It can be difficult to turn so don't be afraid to turn it but only use your hand, no pliers. Once the dick is turned the center shaft will release and you can remove the piston. Check where the base of the piston sits. That's where the seal is. Is it flat, centered & undamaged? If not it will have to be replaced.
