My boiler is leaking. How do I turn it off and can I close

My boiler is leaking. How do I turn it off and can I close the water input valve?

There should be service switch (like a typical light switch) on the boiler. Shut that off and if this is a gas fired unit you can turn off the gas as well. Then turn off the water supply into the boiler. Water will continue to leak out until the pressure in the system has dissipated

There is no light switch. It is gas-fired boiler. THere is a knobb with on/pilot/off. Should I turn this knobb to off and then turn the water supply off. Is there is risk the boiler can blow?
Turn the dial on the gas valve to OFF. There is virtually no chance it will blow.
