The most common procedure for the lower abdominal area is an abdominoplsty (tummy tuck) or a lesser procedure depending on what is seen on examination. Some skin is removed as needed through a horizontal low abdominal incision. The umbilicus may need to be repositioned and the rectus abd
Plastic Surgeon : The rectus muscles are tightened by suturing the edges together to tighten them.this is performed under general anesthesia. There are restrictions following surgery for 3-4 weeks - no lifting, reaching or exertion. You should have a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon to find out what your options are. So, can you stitch the linea alba and other connective tissues back to create a more defined look? What happens to the rectus abdominus above the pubic bone? Can that be "tied back" somehow? I think it is weird that "that area" seems to be the puffiest area on my body :(
Plastic Surgeon : Ideally that would be nice to be able to do that. You may have a small ventral hernia and that can be repaired at the same time. The abdominal cavity may then need to be opened also. If there is real weakness to that part of the abdominal wall, Marlex mesh ican be used to reinforce that area. Sometimes the rectus muscle can be tightened laterally and horizontally also by suturing. The plastic surgeon may ask you to be seen by a general surgeon also.
