VerifiedPlastic Surgeon : Thank you for your question. There are many options available to improving a scar. These involve either a surgical scar revision, dermabrasion, or laser. There are also non-operative ways that are available. You should obtain a consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon who can examine you and discuss what options are best suited for you. The procedure that may be suggested may take more than one surgery depending on the size of the skin graft and the mobility of the skin. Also, after a scar revision, sun exposure will darken a scar so you may want to think about what is the best time for you to do this. As stated above, the initial step is the consultation.

VerifiedAgain, thank you for the question. It is understood that you would be concerned about the forehead skin graft scar. Depending on the looseness of the skin of the forehead at your age,44, the presence of the skin graft for 36 yrs., sometimes the graft can be completely or at least partially removed. This would leave you with a forehead scar which after several months, usually will look much better. As mentioned, several types of scar revision are possible which will improve scars, although there is no one thing which will completely remove the scar. After any procedure on the forehead, a scar can be lessened by pressure, injections, silicone sheeting, sanding (called dermabrasion) or makeup, and there should be some improvement but the some scar will be present and might need your adjustment and acceptance. Consultation with a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon who discusses with you realistic expectations along with the nature, pupose, risks and options of scar revision. Good luck to you.
