VerifiedPlastic Surgeon : The surgery that you underwent does take time to heal. The usual amount of time is 6-12 months. That is what is required for scars to fade. In the healing process, each side may heal at a different rate depending on the amount of swelling and if more was done on one side than the other - sty. During the healing phase, you need to be reassured that everything is healing appropriately. If you have questions about your healing and you are not satisfied with what your surgeon is telling you, then you are entitled to seek another opinion from a board certified plastic surgeon of your choice. Do not be surprised if another surgeon wants to wait before suggesting corrective surgery, if it is needed. It is a mistake to re-operate to soon because changes will still occur in your healing. Thank you Thank you I am at 10 weeks so perhaps I am asking some questions too soon. However it is hopeful to me that I am not "waiting too long" if there are things to be fixed up. I look in my mirror and think that I look really awful. I am hoping this will also change.
Plastic Surgeon : It takes time to heal and during the initial phase of healing, you may look different that you will when the healing is complete. Give it some more time but if you feel more comfortable obtaining another opinion at this point, then you should obtain another consultation. Thank you for your question.
