I had Pedicle Tram Flap surgery nine years ago. I hadI had Pedicle Tram Flap surgery nine years ago. The second day we were back home after the surgery I was in the bathtub. And when I tried to get up, I couldn't because of the rectus muscle being removed from my surgery. No one was there to help me so I was turning and twisting, trying to get up out of the tub. I finally was able to get on my left side, and pushed myself up with my left arm. And when I did, it felt like something “tore” really bad! It was so painful. I could not sit or stand for any length of time and was unable to return to work when I was scheduled. And at that time, the pain from my upper left abdomen, (“the tear”trying to get up out of tub) is what kept me from going back to work. I am now drawing disability and the pain is terrible! And the worse it gets the more the area bulges out. It is located just at the edge of my lower left ribs. And he is ruling out a hernia because of the location but I tell you that is exactly what it feels like, my insides falling out! And the pain is unbearable! And this is nine years I've lived this way! I have been back to see my reconstructive surgeon in Houston Tx, many times in the last nine years about this problem and he has avoided doing an exploratory surgery. He tells me it is probably just scar tissue and is determined to not do surgery! He said a lot of his patients have this problem. But I KNOW surely it can't be the same thing because I'm sure those patients probably are still able to work. And there is no way anyone could work in this condition! I have sent them email 2 weeks ago and sent another one last night because I need to know if he's going to do the exploratory surgery?!? I am the patient and I WANT EXPLORATORY SURGERY! And then we will hopefully know what is causing the pain and bulge I get after trying to do anything, around the house such as cooking, laundry, dishes etc.. I have found temporary relief from a “corset,” If I put it on first thing in the morning, it helps that area “hold it in … read more
