Yes, you can use them, but they would be two separate systems operating in parallel. So each base needs a phone line connection still, and you'd need to disable the answering machine on one of them, so they don't conflict with each other. In that configuration, any phone can make/receive calls. The system with the answering machine (if used) would be the only handsets that could listen to messages, and you won't be able to intercom between the two systems, but for just regular calls it would be fine
