I'm Greg and will do my best to assist with troubleshooting this issue today.
Sorry I didn't see your question earlier and to hear of any issue with your phones or message systems.
If you still need help with this issue, may I ask:
1) How are messages NORMALLY listened to WHEN you are physically near the Vtech system (pressing PLAY on main base, or some other method)?
2) Can you make a TEST CALL to the Vtech number - and successfully leave a TEST MESSAGE (without trying to retrieve messages) ?
3) What landline phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?
4) Do you have ANY other devices/phones (NOT part of the Vtech system) attached to this same phone line?

Hi again and thanks for that information.
To help with this I have attached a couple of images - that show HOW to access the Vtech system remotely - from any Touch-Tone phone AND how to check or program the remote access code - in case that code needs to be changed.
Click the LONG LINKS below this note to see those images.
KEY points are:
When calling to access to the system, enter the 2-digit code WHEN the announcement STARTS.
If attempting to program a new access code, that MUST be done from one of the handsets that is part of the Vtech system. In other words, a new code can NOT be programmed remotely.
Please let me know what happens when you try the steps OR if you have any more questions about this issue.
