My gigaset SL 400 error msg says please check phone connection - how can I do that

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on with your phone system? What have you tried so far?

We have just had a new BT line installed and the engine3er just left but he only set up the broadband and checked it was working I guess he assumed the telephone line was OK too

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Phone Expert to know before I connect you?

If the broadband works OK why not the phone line/
