Calls to my land line go directly to a message that we are not available or that our mailbox is full but there are no messages on our answering machine

Technician's Assistant: Just to clarify, what's the exact make and model of your machine?

I have no idea and do not know how to find out

Technician's Assistant: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?

We have been out of town for 5 days and this was happening when we returned

Technician's Assistant: Anything else you want the Electronics Expert to know before I connect you?

To help you with this issue, may I ask:

1) The FULL Model Number of the phone system you are working with? If this is a cordless system, that model should be printed on a sticker on the bottom or back of the MAIN base station.

2) Can a dial tone be heard when picking a phone, and OUTGOING calls be made successfully?

3) What landline phone service provider (phone company) you have for this phone line?

4) Do you have ANY other devices/phones (NOT part of the main system) attached to this same phone line and if so, are they working properly?
