I can't get a dial tone with my new Panasonic system. The model number is ***** the range KX-TGF373 TO 375 pm KX-TG585SK
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: It is brand new. The model numbers I listed above are on the front of the operating instruction booklet.
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I started trying to connect it yesterday. The phone line is ok. The old system has a dial tone but I have never managed to get one with the new system. I don't know what to try other than to be certain the connections are secure -- what else might I try?
JA: Anything else you want the electronics expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: Is there any other information that would be helpful to the expert?

Hi there and welcome

Please remove the power to the base unit and the batteries from the handset

Then wait 10 minutes, connect the power to the base unit, put the batteries in the handset and tell me if it then functions correctly.
