Hi John and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, bear with us; re-confirm and post back with the complete model number of the Panasonic phone system. Additionally, who is your phone service provider please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Panasonic Model No KX TGEA20
Phone service by Charter.net

Appreciate the additional information John.

The Panasonic KX-TGEA20 is the handset. The model number of the base unit please?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Panasonic KX-TGE 260

Thanks.

Have you tried pressing the ERASE button twice ? ...this would erase completely/all messages (heard and/or unheard) of the answering system built-in into the Panasonic

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No, haven't tried twice (only did it once).
Just a minute until my wife gets off the phone ... and I'll try ERASE twice!
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Yes please and then post back with an update when able.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It did not work! What next?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Phone still says "Messages full"!
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Then it would most likely be not the answering system of the Panasonic but the VoiceMail system of Charter.

Have you tried dialing * 9 9 or even your own home number and listen for voice prompts/instructions?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The Charter lady says we have "No Messages", but the phone still says "messages full".
What now?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

I understand.

Can you please try to press and hold the # ***** until the handset beeps?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I tried holding the # ***** ... no beeps either time in 30 seconds
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Interesting....

Bear with me; press OFF first, then press & hold the # ***** Would there now be a beep sound from the handset?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Did that. No beep. what next?
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Then can you please remove (all) the handset battery and unplug the base unit for an extended period of time even overnight. This would serve as a soft RESET as it would appear to be a systems glitch.

Please post back how things turned up by then and/or should additional information be needed.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
OK, will try that. Thanks for trying!
Expert:  Louie replied 1 year ago.

Cheers.
