OK - just so you will have it, I want to send you a link to the electronic (PDF) version of the system manual to you.

Now IF you did attempt to block calls, that feature should still be ON, and you may have some phone numbers in the "blocked calls list". You may also have the "unknown callers" blocked, and that will need to be turned OFF too.

Now the instructions on how to do all this adding and removing of numbers is on pages 47 & 48 of that system manual. But I must tell you that following the correct steps can be "tricky", based on the way the instructions are written. What I mean is that to ERASE a number from the list means that you have to IGNORE the edit step, and go directly to the ERASE step (on page 48, left column).

As an alternative, let me send you the instructions to ONLY delete a blocked number, as an image (below). Please click the image to see it full size.



Once you see that, try to delete any numbers you may have on the "blocked list" and let me know if you are successful. Then we can try to get rid of the "unknown" block.

OK - next is to check and make sure that the "unknown number" calls are not blocked.

By the way, I did not see that you mentioned anything about if your Caller ID feature is working with this system, so may I ask if you DO have Caller ID active, and can you see the numbers or ANY callers that have called you?

To turn OFF the "unknown number" callers, the instructions (from the top-left column of page 48) are:

Press MENU, then # 2 4 0
Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to select (show) the desired setting (on the display),
Press SAVE then OFF.

Please let me know what you see (for the Caller IDs) and the results of making this change.

OK - interesting... The fact that the Caller ID is not working MAY be the cause of this issue. And since the Caller ID comes through your service provider, that may be part of the problem too, especially if THEY have the ability to block calls through their service (many DO have this feature).

So at this point, we may want to contact your service provider and let them know that the Caller ID issue is happening - along with the fact that the calls appear to be blocked too.

BUT, before you contact them, I have one more thing that you MAY want to try with this Panasonic system, and that is a full system reset. This should clear any "stuck conditions" that may be in the Panasonic. It may not "fix" this issue, but it should be tried and done BEFORE contacting your provider.

Cordless system "reset" procedure. This is done by following the steps below.
============================
1) Remove the batteries from ALL handsets in the system.
2) Remove the phone cord from the main base unit AND the phone jack in the wall.
3) Remove the AC power adapter plug from the main base unit AND remove the AC adapter from the power outlet.
4) WAIT 15 minutes. This allows any "stuck" conditions in the components to clear.
5) Reconnect the batteries in all handsets.
6) Reconnect the phone cord between the main base and the phone jack in the wall.
7) Reconnect the AC power adapter plug in the main base unit and then plug the AC adapter into the wall power outlet.
8) Wait 30-60 seconds for the system to reinitialize.
9) Test each handset for proper function.
10) Test each function of the main base unit (answering system, caller id, etc.).

Again, this may not fix this issue, especially if the Caller ID system, which comes from your provider is not working.

Do you still have the Caller ID issue, where it does NOT show correctly? If so, that would be a provider issue, and it may be related to this issue to.

About the only other idea I have would be to disconnect the Panasonic base unit from the phone line, and put a DIFFERENT phone on the line - such as a very basic "corded" phone, and place another TEST call. If the different phone does the same thing, then we will know it is an issue with the phone service.

If you have a friend or neighbor close by, you could even borrow a different phone for this TEST, OR take your Panasonic base and one handset and test it at your friend's home. This would tell us for sure that this is (or is not) an issue with the Panasonic).

Please let me know if you can do any of this testing, but you may want to give Cox a call in either case.
